A penetrometer measures soil resistance to penetration, providing practical insight into compactness, hardness, and consistency at depth. Using cone-tipped steel rods and a driving anvil, we record blow counts over ten-centimeter intervals to build a profile of soil conditions. When we reach competent load-bearing strata, we stop and prepare a report that supports an engineered treatment plan.
